If you love animals and wish to get a degree in veterinary science, it is advisable that you complete advanced high school biology and chemistry. This particular degree will ready you to apply to veterinary medical school, which requires an additional four years of education. If you do not want to go to vet school, the veterinary science degree will well prepare you for a career in which you can work with animals.

An undergraduate program in veterinary science is a life sciences major with a focus on the welfare and health of animals and humans. Most of your coursework will be focused towards animals and their health, and you will have a great foundation in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics, genetics and microbiology.

With a degree in veterinary science, you will be well prepared to find a career as a veterinary assistant, a veterinary technician, in animal research, teaching and/or instruction, management and so forth.

If you do want to become a vet, you will need to decide what school you are going to apply to and then check to see if you meet their requirements.
