If you are interested in earning a criminal justice degree online but do not have a whole lot of money to pay for your education, here is a bit of advice that should lead you in the right direction – take online classes.

As a general rule, online degree programs that are offered by public colleges and universities are less expensive than those offered by private schools. This includes criminal justice programs. You will find that many colleges that offer online degree programs will offer a wide variety of programs to choose from covering several different fields and industries.

Their may be some discrepancy when comparing the rates for online classes at some schools. Part of the reason for this is that their rates will vary slightly year to year, usually depending upon the demand for the program. Therefore it is very difficult to say which schools offer the cheapest online criminal degree programs. Instead of trying to find the least expensive criminal justice degree programs available online it is better to consider the course content, the faculty and whether or not they include internships. You will also want to check out online reviews about the courses you are interested in.

Back in 2007 a resident surgeon took a photo of a patient’s tattoo-the words ‘red hot’ on the patient’s private area, and he shared it with his colleagues. The story made international news when it was leaked to the press.

The results of a new survey shows that with the social networking sites on the web today, this type of thing can easily occur. As a matter of fact, 60% of med school have had students post unprofessional information on the internet according to the Journal of American Medical Association.

Most often this information had something to do with the student’s own behavior such as being drunk, high on drugs or sexually oriented images and comments. But 13 percent of the reported incidents this past year did involve content that was in violation of patient privacy. Some students blogged about their experience with enough detail to identify the patients. Less than half of schools have any policies that punish such behavior.

This issue is a new one for medicine and the medical profession is grappling with how to handle it. There should be more education in medical schools about protecting patient privacy on the internet is what Dr. Katherine C. Chretien of the Washington D.C. VA Medical Center says.
