Maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and employees is very important for all colleges and universities.  The Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 and the Jeanne Clery Act requires all US college and universities to distribute to all current students, employees, and applicants for enrollment or employment information about crime on and around their campuses. The two types of information that must be disclosed are descriptions of policies related to campus security and statistics relating to specific types of crimes.

College and university administrators are making serious efforts to improve campus safety. Colleges and universities have made campus security a top priority and have implemented many of the campus policies and procedures implemented by the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990.
